Hi bonyboy,

For the most part, most modern plasmas have a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 so I think LCD tech can't use that as an advantage over PDP's anymore.

Playboy, the Mens magazine performs a once a year summary of Home Electronics supposedly in conjunction with Stanford Graduate Electrical Engineer Students (EE's). Here they selected The Panasonic Plasma Model TH-50PZ750 citing a built in HDTV tuner, an SD Memory Card slot for photo(s) & video clips. Lastly, they cite "plenty" of analogue and HDMI inputs. Suprisingly, SONY remains the industry "flagship" in terms of Research & Development (R&D) and remains "arch rivals" with Panasonic. Personally, I do not feel Panasonic performs the quality conditionig, component selection and analysis that SONY can. We'll watch this model for Reliability and Performance analysis

i enjoyed your comparison of PDP's and LCD's. when i come to contrast ratio the PDP is king. it's a pity that there aren't any in smaller sizes (under 40"). large LCD's have an edge on PDP's with reference to native resolution. many PDP's esp. early ones, have native resolution of 720p in comparison to LCD's of the same size with 1080p. as we know consumers most likely would want to have a full def tv because of the emphasis of blu-ray and HD DVD having ful def movies. there seems to be a craze for full def and large LCD's (the vast majority) have full def. choosing 1 of these panel tv will come down to individual preferences. may the better panel win.

Good description of the different technologies-- I feel better now that I have a plasma screen. For our second TV in the bedroom, though, it had better be a LCD because we don't have much space.
