blog.jr.com: Sony Over-the-Ear Headphones are up for Taking a Beating

I have had a pair of these for a couple of years. I keep them as a back up. I found the sound quality fine, but I find they hurt my ears. Either the speakers are too big for my ear cannals or the plastic around the speakers is to hard for extended use.

I have 3 pairs of these headphones and love them. I take them everywhere and wrap them around my mp3 player with no problem. What I love most is the design. They do not fall off my head, and they are really easy to wear. Ear buds never fit me right.

They will take a beating -- but only for about a year. Just purchased my third pair in as many years. I don't throw these around and stomp on them, but I do carry them just about everywhere, wrapped around an iPod and stuffed into a pants pocket when they're not on my head. With both previous pairs, the sound just eventually dropped out in one ear.

Err. And the rest of what I was saying:

But yeah, pound for pound, for the sound quality you're getting at the sub $10 price point, they really can't be beat. The way the entire earpiece is a single mold rather than separate parts put together means they won't fall apart after enough use, and the way the buds are angled straight into the ear canal gives you some solid fidelity without having to go the route of those creepy new-fangled earplug types.

They are just great, sound quality MUCH better than the previous buds I had- but they need a PR campaign to qualify them as cool, since my 14 year old granddaughter won't consider using them- since they're "different" from what the other kids have.

These are my standard head phones. Good quality sound when used in the normal way. I reverse them for talk radio (left phone on my right ear etc). I do this to prevent the headphone from protruding into the ear canal. Goofy I know but it works for me.

My only complaint with this head set and any other headset really is at the weakest point...the cord directly at the jack. The wiring always (after a time) becomes frade inside the rubber cord and I always loose a connection in one of the phones. You would think that the designers would double up the rubber at the jack. All in all I give them an 8 out of 10 for sound quality and the ability for the phones to re reversed...lol
