That is, let Asus do it. There have been reports at the eeeUser Forum of people frying their computers trying it on their own.

Re: The Latest Netbook From Asus

Asus has always made quality stuff, and they've done a great job with with the 1008HA. I never thought previous models were all that ugly, though :p

Re: The Latest Netbook From Asus

Extra RAM must be installed here, at J&R, after we receive the standard netbook. We do not keep a stock of custom configured netbooks.

At this time we cannot take an order for custom configuration on our site. If calling our 800-806-1115 is not possible or coming to the store in New York is not an option, we can take your custom configuration order through email by using our contact form http://www.jr.com/information/contactUs.jsp

Re: The Latest Netbook From Asus

Could I ask an employee if they have the netbook with 2GB Ram installed instock, cause I don't have a way of order products over phone.

Re: The Latest Netbook From Asus

Best way to get it with extra RAM installed is to order through the toll-free # 800-806-1115 .

Re: The Latest Netbook From Asus

Question:
Its says the ram can be 2GB.
I want to buy this netbook, but how can i make
the ram 2GB instead of 1GB when I buy it?

Re: The Latest Netbook From Asus

why can't you have the one with linux? What is with windows xp only? You are banned to carry linux operating system,if not when will you have one?
thanks

Re: The Latest Netbook From Asus

You can have Linux, some do come with it. It's a great idea for these small machines. Michael D. above was asking about putting the Ubuntu distribution of Linux on this one, I'd think you'd want to start with one of the other models that have a Linux system in it already, so you don't pay the Windows tax.

Re: The Latest Netbook From Asus

Why can't you have linux operating system in any eeepc s they make them.I want this product only with linux os.
thanks

Re: The Latest Netbook From Asus

I'd love to hear if anyone has this working well with Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.04 (http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download-netbook) or the standard Ubuntu with all the hardware working?

They have other Asus models listed here so I'm hoping it's somewhat similar in compatibility?

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HardwareSupport/Machine...
