Matt, not a bad review on the Sony BDP-S550, except in my 30 years in the A/V industry, EVERY owner's manual says NOT to stack components. Yeah, I suppose if you bought an INSIGNA, or even the step down BDP-S350, you may not give a rat's patoot about the negative effects of stacking your gear - both electronically and in terms of mechanical ( like vibrations ). I was most interested in whether or not it offered the 7.1 analog out - but it's disappointing that it doesn' offer gold plated terminals like last year's 300 and 500. Why invest in step up cables? ( like putting earrings on a pig !

Bose doesn't offer blu-ray players.

I'm not exactly sure what you don't understand. It's pretty simple, to watch blu-ray movies you need a blu-ray player. The Sony BDP-S550 is a blu-ray player.
