The look of the EEEPC notebook is still cute and the newer models still good enough. I am waiting on the $100 laptops PCs. Anobody has any news?

I just got my EEE 4 GB today, and so far so good!
It's so tiny, it's like a pet computer.
I'll bring it with me on my mental disaster health deployments.

Hello

I am intrigued by these units but my primary use would as a work device to view/edit a variety of Microsoft Office programs (word, excel, etc.) while out of the office. Does the Linux system allow for these programs to be operable or would I (if possible) have to load a Microsoft XP OS?

One thing is for sure linux os is free of charge there is never a fees like in the case of microsoft .I have tried the ubuntu version it really owes it to its name .you need more from linux get to mysite or mail me

I have bought one (black, 4GB) for my daughter not to play games but to do serious scientific works. I would like to give 'Asus' some advices. Your version of Linux should be extenden a bit. Firstly, we cannot mount DVD-CD Rom (Lacie, last portable model, $84 bought in J&R also) with data etc while sound is mounting automatically. Secondly, there is no manual internationalization of Open Office. Which is bought gives us English and Chinese. It is rediculous. There are problems with networking. There is no loader of new packages. I wait for EEE 8BG black for my own needs and I hope Linox would be improved. There is no sense to load external Linux while one has already bought.

I'm still waiting for the Asus EEE PC 8G to be released. That is the one which I think will be most useful. Light weight is the great advantage. No need to carry a separate bag, just put it in my backpack or briefcase bag. Good deal.
